US Surf Brand Launches In The UK
US surf brand Lightning Bolt has revealed it has lined up a number of UK stockists to support its launch into the UK market. The business’ AW14 collection comprises t-shirts, shirts, knitwear, sweatshirts, joggers, outerwear and accessories. Designs take inspiration from the Hawaiian surf scene as well as the mountains of western Europe, using soft, durable fabrics such as fleece, waterproof nylon, Shetland and Melton wool, flannels, cashmere, merino and lambswool blends, canvas twills and corduroy. The brand’s signature bolt logo appears on most pieces, which come in earth tones, blues and forest greens. Lightning Bolt was founded in 1971 by surfer Gerry Lopez and Surf Line Hawaii store manager Jack Shipley as a surfboard company before moving into clothing in the mid-1970s. The brand has previously been available internationally through collaborations with the likes of Colette, 14oz Berlin, Bloomingdales and Tom Sachs, as well as via its own European-facing webstore. Current UK stockists include Present London, Urban Outfitters, Couverture & The Garbstore, Coggles and Size? Prices start from £30 for t-shirts, £70 for sweatshirts, £100 for knitwear and £140 for outerwear.
