High Street Brand Gets Into World Cup Spirit
FashionBeans can exclusively reveal the result of River Island tapping World Football Freestyle Champion Andrew Henderson to appear in the latest edition of its Masterclass series.
Shot to coincide with the start of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the two-minute clip features Henderson showing off his ball skills while wearing the high street brand’s World Cup-inspired clothing collection.
The limited edition line includes t-shirts, hoodies, shorts and eyewear in classic block-colours such as black, navy and burgundy.
Other items feature Brazilian prints and colours, a reference to the tournament’s host country.
On the collaboration Henderson said: “The best thing about working with River Island on this shoot was the freedom it allowed me. It was such an exciting environment, a new challenge…and I love challenges.”
“I love working with obstacles, playing the ball off new environments. It was an exciting new world that I could play in,” he added.
The video officially launches on 20th June but FashionBeans is able to offer an exclusive first look.
Previous instalments have looked at style with former Men’s Health Style Director, Dan Rookwood; grooming with Mr Natty; and fitness with 1990s morning TV personality Mr Motivator.
22-year-old Henderson took up freestyle football, which involves performing tricks with any part of the body, as a way to rehabilitate after a bad injury.
River Island’s World Cup collection is available to buy online now, prices start from £10 for accessories.
