Gabicci 40th Anniversary Collection
British label Gabicci has released its latest AW13 collection. The range celebrates the brand’s 40th anniversary and to commemorate the label have unearthed their archive files from the 1970s and 1980s.
Wearing the collection for the ceremonial lookbook is the 2012 Male Model of the Year (by ARISE), Dudley O’Shaughnessy.
The lookbook showcases classic styles key to the northern soul, mod and suedehead movements – three sub-cultures closely associated with the Gabicci name. Heavy knitwear is prominent, seen with bold patterns printed upon the torso, or encompassing the whole garment. Suiting and shirts are also significant, displaying the more formal, Italian influenced style of the mod movement.
In further celebration of its anniversary, Gabicci has produced a sub-line for the season in collaboration with DJ Norman Jay MBE. Jay became prominent in the 1980s DJing warehouse parties, and has since worked for Kiss and the BBC. Reviving his memories of the brand’s earliest years, Jay has helped recreate the classic Gabicci style.
Each item of this collaboration has been given a unique label and comes with Norman’s signature embossed on the hang tag. Pricing for this exclusive line is above Gabicci’s usual premium mark, ranging from £115 – £130.
