International Teams Celebrated in Classic Style
Hackett is hoping England’s crash out of the World Cup won’t affect sales of its new polo shirts. The British brand has launch a line of eight limited edition designs to celebrate key teams competing in the 2014 football tournament. Made from single piquet cotton, each has been embroidered with a football carrying the nation’s flag on the chest. Another flag also appears on the arm. Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Holland, Portugal and host nation Brazil all feature in the collection. Colours have been drawn from the flags, with white, red, blue, yellow and orange variations used for the body and contrasting collar trims. Despite the World Cup finishing in late July and England failing to make it out of the group stages, Hackett said in a statement it aimed to create a range that ensures “any national football fan will be prepared for a big game long after the newest champs have been crowned”. The launch follows Hackett’s sport-inspired show at London Collections: Men, during which models walked down a faux grass runway to the sound of horse racing. Pieces from the brand’s World Cup polo shirt collection, costing £90 each, come in sizes XS through to XXL and are available now at Hackett stores and online at Hackett.com.
