Department Store Ramps Up Menswear Offering For AW14
John Lewis has announced plans to put weight behind its menswear by extending its John Lewis & Co range to include tailoring and overhauling its Kin and Man lines. The move, which comes as part of the retail chain’s 150th anniversary celebrations, will kick off next month with the introduction of six heritage-inspired suits. Housed under the casual wear John Lewis & Co name, the two and three-piece designs feature details such as side adjusters on trousers and working cuffs. Ten key UK stores have been selected to sell the new range, including Oxford Street, as well as online with prices starting from £250. In a bid to ensure all three lines offer a different aesthetic, John Lewis’ lifestyle label, Kin, aims for minimal looks through basic menswear pieces, a streamlined selection of outerwear and slim fits. Meanwhile the new look John Lewis Man collection focuses on delivering modern takes on classic English tailoring. Both Kin and Man will be available across a greater number of the brand’s 39 UK stores with prices for suits from £159 and £280 respectively. John Lewis’ head of menswear buying, Nick Keyte, said: “The autumn winter collection is a true expression of where contemporary heritage stands in modern menswear.” “Each collection is an expression of a very different look for the stylish man,” he added. John Lewis’ refreshed menswear ranges will be available to buy in stores and online from September.
