Kickers Spring/Summer 2014
Iconic footwear label Kickers has reworked its classic boot range for this year’s spring/summer season.
The unveiled collection shows old models updated via new patterns and prints, including the Legend shoe – a style that’s been with Kickers since the brand’s founding.
Established by Frenchman Daniel Raufast, Kickers’ boots were designed to align with the emerging blue jean trend that dominated European youth at the time. Contrast stitching, embellishments and labelled tabs all imitated the production of denim, translating the aesthetic to footwear.
SS14 from the firm, which was set up in 1970, maintains this timeless look, putting to use some of the brand’s most established silhouettes.
The Kick High boot is a feature piece, known to be worn by British pop culture icons such as David Bowie, Rod Stuart and Ian Brown. Released in black, white and tan Leather, the boot carries a dark camouflage print on both the sole and laces.
Brogues have been pulled into the line, coming in Lo and Urbo shapes. Produced with white rubber soles and bright blue lacing, these shoes provide a modern take on a tradition style. However, thick leathers and punch detailing have been used to maintain basic brogue elements.
In addition to Kickers’ SS14 range, the brand has collaborated with Liverpudlian designer Christopher Shannon. The outcome of the partnership was initially unveiled at London Collections: MEN in June 2013, supporting Shannon’s acid-house inspired show.
Two shoes released under the alliance attempt to push the boundaries of Kickers’ timeless approach to style. Using a white leather boot as a base, Shannon has applied contrast black patent leather sandal straps, complete with embossed flower pattern, to the boot’s upper, creating a bold style that cannot fail to make a statement.
Pricing for the collection ranges from £75 for the Hi boot, up to £200 for the Christopher Shannon collaboration models. The full line is available now at Kickers.co.uk, and in store or online at Schuh.
