The Latest On London Collections: Men
With all eyes currently on London for the most cutting-edge menswear, designers are flocking to the British capital to exhibit their work. As the beginning of the New Year and London Collections: Men fast approaches, the four day event’s final schedule release sees a mix of veterans and fresh names. Perhaps the most topical addition comes from Belgian fashion house, Maison Martin Margiela. The international label known for its intriguing aesthetic sees the controversial return John Galliano to the world of design. His first collection for the label is set to take to the London runway on January 12, with a statement adding that it is expected to be shown “exceptionally around tea time”. Joining Maison Martin Margiela is American clothing and accessory label Coach, which has announced plans to showcase its first full men’s ready-to-wear collection under the leadership of Creative Director Stuart Vevers. Other newcomers to the LC:M schedule include British labels Aquascutum and Nigel Cabourn alongside the likes of Private White VC and Kilgour. Meanwhile, up-and-coming talents Rory Parnell-Mooney, Liam Hodges and Nicomede Talavera will show under Topman and Fashion East’s MAN initiative. The project to support young designers also celebrates its tenth anniversary as part of the event, which helped launch the careers of British design talents Christopher Shannon and J.W. Anderson. The AW15 London Collections: Men event is set to run from 9-12 January 2014.
