Matthew Miller Spring/Summer 2015
Conflict served as inspiration for Matthew Miller’s SS15 collection. A runway show, held at Victoria House on the opening day of London Collections: Men, re-imagined demob outfits first produced during World War II.
Titled Introversion, the range updated the three-piece suits given to servicemen after completing tours as a way of equipping veterans to return to work. The original models – produced by Montague Burton, known today as Burton Menswear – were only available in blue and grey pinstripe.
On the move to update the old designs, Miller said: “The collection is made in a plethora of blue hues and mashed-up pinstripes that make the models look like walking battleships, especially when wearing the graphic pinstripe camouflage.”
Further references to conflict were made with ‘Anti’, ‘War’, ‘Social’ and ‘You’ motif Velcro patches used to allow the wearer to form messages across the garments.
FashionBeans had access backstage where hair styling was managed by Chie Sato from Toni & Guy and grooming handled by Michelle Webb for AOFM Pro.
The SS15 collection from Matthew Miller will be available later in the year – specific dates and prices points are yet to be announced.
The designer’s current season can be found at stockists including Dover Street Market, Mr Porter and Harvey Nichols.
