Online Retailer To launch Collection Inspired By Movie
Menswear e-tailer Mr Porter is set to launch a sixty-piece collection inspired by upcoming spy film Kingsman: The Secret Service.
The range of the same name, produced in collaboration with Director Matthew Vaughn, features suits, shirts, accessories and even furnishings.
Designers behind the project say the intention was to reflect actual pieces seen throughout the comic book flick.
“It was a very organic process that began when I started writing the screenplay,” Vaughn told WWD.
“To be honest, I was so sick of watching films that did not bear any resemblance to the wardrobe of a 21st century gentleman. I wanted it to be totally modern, yet highly reflective of the elegance of the past.”
Early reports indicate prices will fall around £669 for jackets and up to £1,790 for tailoring.
The Kingsman line will also feature pieces from “the best in British production,” according to a statement.
Bremont timepieces, George Cleverly footwear, Cutler and Gross eyewear, and Mackintosh outerwear is expected to make the line-up.
On screen looks created by Arianne Phillips – the BAFTA nominated costumer behind Tom Ford’s A Single Man – will be translated in to the collection, including silhouettes of custom made Savile Row suits worn by the characters.
“For the first time and without compromise, film merchandising is an organic, authentic extension of the story and the characters created on screen,” said Phillips.
“For the first time we can literally buy into their world and we’ve been able to do so seamlessly with our powerhouse retail partner Mr Porter.”
A follow-up range has been confirmed for spring 2015, suggesting a tie-in with a film sequel.
Starring Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Caine, Kingsman: The Secret Service hits cinemas 24th October.
The Kingsman collection will be available exclusively on Mr Porter from September. Customers are able to register their interest online now.
