Label Contrasts Old & Young For SS15
Native Youth, the innovative menswear brand that looks to combine the eccentricities of British design with technical precision, have teamed up with actor David Gant for their spring/summer 2015 lookbook. Gant, known for his roles in Gandhi, Braveheart and, more recently, as a long-standing character in the BBC’s Holby City, was photographed alongside newcomer Jake Barratt, 21. Using the two models throughout, the Manchester born label proved that their clothes can be worn by men of all ages. With both individuals wearing the garments equally well, the shoot is a welcome addition to an industry often driven by the assumption that youth is beauty. “Jake was a joy to work with, a real pleasure,” said Gant of working with his younger counterpart. But what advice would he give to someone just starting out? “I have no advice, other than be yourself. You are who you are and that is your greatest asset,” came the wise reply from the actor with a 38-year career. For SS15 Native Youth have created a collection of warm-weather essentials, bringing clean lines and a relaxed attitude to the pieces. Washed fabrics, looser fits and a nod towards classic sports and work wear are the core ideas behind the line. Combining layering staples and on-point outerwear, this season the label’s palette consists of soft navy blue, oxblood, rust and a striking sage green. Native Youth is available from ASOS and Urban Outfitters, along with independent boutiques across the UK and Europe.
