Nike + Riccardo Tisci SS14
Further news of Riccardo Tisci’s team up with Nike has emerged. The Givenchy Creative Director recently unveiled a detailed look at the highly anticipated Nike + R.T range, which was first announced back in January.
The spring 2014 offering includes four versions of the classic Air Force 1 (AF1) model. Tisci’s collection features updated examples of the low and mid AF1s, as well as new hi-top and boot takes.
After wearing the trainers for over a decade, Tisci told Complex: “This collaboration is something that to me, is not work, it’s more of a celebration of life, a celebration of something that I love, respect, and believe in.”
“The fact that they approached me to reinterpret these shoes made me very proud,” he added.
Crafted with tribal-like accents, premium and tumbled leather, as well as synthetic suede, each trainer in the range has its own unique detailing.
Speaking of his creative process, Tisci said: “Regardless of me doing menswear, womenswear, and couture, I’ve been lucky to have 100 per cent freedom to express myself. Nike gave me an iconic shoe, and basically gave me a white sheet of paper to do what I want.”
The white colour way of all four sneakers will be released on March 21st at select retailers in Milan, London, New York, Berlin and Paris. A second black/brown version is scheduled to follow in the weeks after, with no date confirmed as yet.
Prices for the Nike + R.T collection have already been confirmed to range from between £139 and £205.
