British Accessories Brand Extends Into Leather
Luxury travel and lifestyle brand Otis Batterbee has extended its range of accessories to include leather pieces, with a deal already struck to be sold in UK retailers.
Wash bags, passport covers, travel wallets, luggage tags, pouches, folios and watch rolls have been added, previously only available in Savile Row suit fabrics.
The ten-piece premium range, which comes in shades of black, blue, cognac and oxblood, has been picked up by leading London department store Harrods in both its main Knightsbridge and Terminal 5 stores.
Each design, handmade in England, features an updated version of an embossed pattern created by the eponymous founder’s great grandfather.
Batterbee, a graduate of Central Saint Martin’s, told FashionBeans the move was a “natural progression” for the brand, having produced textile travel accessories for five years.
“I have always wanted to introduce leather to the range and it’s been very exciting working with the workshop in the UK to produce it,” he added.
Internationally the collection is being sold in Printemps and Le Bon Marche, France, and Bergdorf Goodman in America.
FashionBeans understands that Batterbee intends to grow the company even further with the launch of a line of bags and luggage at London Collections: Men and Man Paris in January.
“I’m also developing ranges which will see us eventually move into apparel,” he said.
UK stockists of the brand’s cloth-based pieces include Liberty, Fortnum & Mason and Selfridges.
Otis Batterbee’s debut leather collection is available to buy in Harrods as well as online now. Prices start from £60 for a luggage tag, the highest priced item is a suede-line folio at £445.
