Pharrell Adds Fragrance To List Of Collaborations

Pharrell Williams is wasting no time making 2014 his year, following up a number of projects with a new fragrance in partnership with Japanese fashion firm Comme des Garçons.

Confusingly, the Happy singer’s scent will be called ‘Girl’, but bosses have confirmed it will be aimed at the unisex market.

It’s the first product of its kind from the 40-year-old, who picked up his seventh Grammy Award this year.

The American artist, whose album of the same name was released earlier this month, said: “As one of my favourite designers once said, ‘Comme des Garçons is your favourite designers’ favourite designer… the top of the top, the best of the best.”

Pharrell went on to describe the venture as an “education”.

Adrian Joffe, CEO of Comme des Garçons Parfums, added: “This is the first time we have created a fragrance for a musician and I can think of no greater talent and no greater gentleman to have done this with.

[He] knew exactly what he wanted the perfume to smell like right from the beginning.

It has been an honor to work with such a creative artist with a great vision which for Comme des Garçons is the most important thing.”

Pharrell is famous for his clothing lines IceCream and Billionaire Boys Club, launched during in his days with the band N.E.R.D. Earlier this year, the star teamed up with Japanese brand Uniqlo to launch a range of t-shirts under his company ‘I am OTHER’.

The latest venture adds to that and others, including an eco collection with G-Star Raw.

The fragrance will be on sale from September – details of the price and stockists are to be released soon.
