Sports Brand Continues Retro Push
Puma has continued its retro-inspired AW14 campaign with the launch of its new Throwbacks collection. The athletic outfitter’s latest addition sees a number of iconic nineties silhouettes given a modern update, complete with a new winter colour palette. Footwear within the range is centred on Puma’s Trinomic XT1+ trainer model (£65), which returns in maroon and teal colour ways. It comprises clear rubber cells for cushioning and stability, as well as an integrated lacing system, forefoot saddle, shock-absorbing outsole and extra forefoot cushioning. Accompanying apparel revolves around a similar palette. Designers have attempted to remake its classic sweatsuit utilising block-panelling and a retro take on the label’s formstripe logo. Pieces include the Coach Jacket (£55), which features raglan sleeves, a point collar, press stud placket and contrast lining. A Baseball Jacket (£70) in black and navy completes the collection, with a point collar, slanted side pockets and fitted cuffs. The Puma Throwback Collection follows a number of retro-inspired releases across 2014, including a relaunch of its Puma States and Court Star trainers earlier this year.
