Red Wing Launches Own Publication

Heritage bookmaker Red Wing plans to celebrate its own history with a new yearly publication. The Red Wing Post, which launched this week, is available in stores across London, Berlin, Frankfurt and Amsterdam. The newspaper-style edition carries features, interviews and news from across the American brand. Issue one includes editorials that focus on the firm’s origins, in particular those of founder Charles Beckman. Readers will also find a city guide detailing the craftsmanship culture of Berlin and an interview with graphic designer and photographer Paul Octavious in the inaugural print, out today. In a statement, the shoe label said: “The Red Wing Post uncovers the stories of different kinds of people from all over the world who are all similarly driven to do what they love with a keen eye and a passion for detail.” Several brands have turned to in-house publications to promote new ranges and campaign images in recent years. Both Mr Porter and Orlebar Brown continue to produce respective titles, which are freely distributed in stores and at events. Red Wing manufactures shoes and boots including Oxford, chukka and worker styles. Prices average around £200 per pair. The 2014-2015 issue of The Red Wing Post is available now at stores including its Newburgh Street outlet.
