High Street Store’s Heritage Line Grows
Holloway Road, the heritage-inspired menswear range from River Island, is set to return for a fifth season next month. The high street chain’s premium line, made up of denim and workwear-inspired pieces, focuses on fabrics for AW14. Clothing comprises of outerwear, such as a tartan mac, alongside Guernsey cable knit jumpers, tailored granddad shirts and modern tweed tailoring. The latest round of designs also features a greater number of casual items, with printed t-shirts, raglan sweatshirts, loop and brushback joggers and zip-front hoodies. Details include boucle logos, bold prints, jacquard linings and contrasting and real leather pockets. According to Holloway Road designer Melanie Szmolenski, the AW14 collection is more refined than previous seasons with “cleaner fabrications and a strong considered direction”. “Our attention is focused on sourcing premium fabrics and developing the perfect new shapes,” she added. River Island Holloway Road debuted in 2012, named after the location of the brand’s first ever shop opened by founder Bernard Lewis in 1948. The AW14 collection maintains its usual September release date, both in store and online. Price points will sit between £22 and £128 for individual items.
