Stone Island Spring/Summer 2014
The future is providing some early inspiration for Stone Island as it reveals a SS14 collection unlike any other. The Italian firm, renowned for its progressive approach, is pushing the boundaries with a focus on new technologies.
An intelligent use of colour and fabric has allowed the technical clothing specialists to deliver a strong collection, aimed at fearless fashion followers.
Alongside working in an alternative palette of pink, purple and royal blue – each on trend for SS14 – the offering mixes its method of styling. Textures are a stand-out feature as man-made meets natural to produce entirely new tactile trends.
Many of the brand’s signature styles, which have been perfected over three decades, make a return for SS14. Hooded jackets, windbreakers, sweatshirts and parkas are all on hand in summer-ready colours. The majority of the collection focuses on lightweight separates, ideal for the warmer months.
The introduction of reflective, glow in the dark and ‘ghost’ finishes strengthens the line’s futuristic vibe. Nevertheless, functionality remains a key component, ensuring the playfully mixed looks remain accessible throughout.
Innovation has been carried over from previous seasons. The brand’s laser printing, which previously featured on hooded jackets, has made a return for the latest range. A numerically controlled laser beam engraves the surface of garments, giving them a unique texture.
The Stone Island SS14 collection is available online now, with prices typically ranging between £40 for t-Shirts and £600 for outerwear. The brand is also available at Harvey Nichols, Van Mildert and End Clothing.
