Swims SS14 Collection
Producers of practical footwear, Swims has given the loafer a water resistant reinvention as part of its SS14 line. The Norwegian lifestyle brand is focusing on incorporating the classic style into its all-weather range of shoes after the silhouette saw a boost in sales last season. Founder Johan Ringdal is hoping use of the loafer will see the label’s shoes become a wardrobe essential in their own right, while maintaining a functional approach. In a series of images exclusive to FashionBeans, the mixed-fabric models appear in signature Swims’ colour ways, alongside several new looks featuring Hawaiian and camouflage prints. In addition to the water resistant rubber/nylon upper, designers have used a moulded foot bed and side ventilation gills for the construction, which sits on top of a non-marking ribbed sole. The loafers are part of a wider offering from the brand, made up of boat shoes, brogues, Derbies and its original galosh shoe coverings. Established in 2005, the performance-led approach has since extended to include outerwear and accessories, such as bags. Swims is also using 2014 to roll out its first ever trainer. Known as the Luca, it features multiple fabric technologies such as a flexible outer shell and natural rubber sole. The full SS14 collection is available online now, prices for loafers start from €125 (£103) for loafers and €120 (£99) for trainers.
