Five Storey Townhouse Home To Men’s Bags
Leather accessories brand The Cambridge Satchel Company has moved into a new flagship store in London, complete with a dedicated area for men. The five storey, 3,239sq ft town house on James Street, Covent Garden, features two retail floors selling the business’s full range of bags, as well as an in-house bespoke embossing service and lounge area with free Wi-Fi access. Bosses have also announced plans to sell exclusive products not available anywhere else and offer a click-and-collect and pre-order service. Designed by British architects Househam Henderson, the interior is made up of a series of wall-mounted displays, separated into lines including archive pieces, collaborations and the men’s explorer collection. The Cambridge Satchel Company founder and CEO Julie Deane said the business has been building a “best in class” team ahead of the move. In recent months several hires have been made from the likes of Mr Porter and Marks and Spencer. The expansion came after a $21m (£13m) injection from global venture capital firm Index Ventures earlier in the year. The new flagship is open now. Prices for classic men’s styles both in store and online start from £116.
