United Nude Merges Men’s & Women’s Styles
Architecture-inspired shoe label United Nude is set to launch its first ever unisex footwear collection.
Dubbed ‘the fashionable runner’, the latest creation by designers Rem D. Koolhaas and Galahad Clark offers a unique fusion that captures various elements of both men and women’s fashion.
Utilising the brand’s signature elasticised fabric, the fashionable runner incorporates United Nude’s characteristically bright colour palette, along with its instantly recognisable stripe pattern.
According to Koolhaas, United Nude’s Creative Director, producing this first pair of unisex footwear was all about balance: “With the runner we didn’t want to re-invent, but instead create a well-balanced classic made with our own designed United Nude woven fabrics,” he said.
“The everyday shoe we created is a shoe we all want to wear ourselves and this as an approach often leads to success.”
While United Nude’s fashionable runner is the firm’s first sortie into unisex fashion, it isn’t its only innovation. Since launching in 2003, Koolhaus and Clark have integrated a number of diverse concepts into the brand’s catalogue, ranging from Dutch graffiti to pop star-inspired haute couture.
United Nude’s fashionable runner will drop later this month in seven flagship stores worldwide – Amsterdam, London, New York, Vienna, Tel Aviv, Seoul and Tokyo – as well as online at UnitedNude.com, priced at £115.
The design duo also confirmed the arrival of a slip-on style, which takes its cues from the minimalistic skate silhouette, which will retail at the same time for £69.
