Young Label Uses Worldwide Fabrics For New Season
Universal Works has mixed traditional and modern menswear styles within its latest AW14 lookbook. Newly released images reveal a collection with several influences such as the 1950s, military detailing and blue collar garments. Long sleeve t-shirts, loopback sweatshirts, jeans, jackets and accessories appear in a number of materials from across the world including Harris Tweed, Japanese denim, Yorkshire lambswool and Lancashire cotton. Meanwhile patterns – made up of camouflage, polka dots and stripes – also play a part in the range. A statement from the firm credited the colour palette to “winter coastlines, mud flats and reed beds of Norfolk”. Later it added the collection promises to “continue the universal mix of old and new, traditional and modern, stylish yet understated clothing”. Earlier in the year the brand launched its first ever line of men’s jeans under its Workshop Denim initiative. Universal Works’ AW14 collection is available to buy now, online and from stockists including ASOS, Opumo and End Clothing, priced between £18 – £450.
