Cult Film Franchise Gets Second Outing
Vans has turned to the dark side for its follow-up collection of footwear and clothing with cult film series Star Wars, confirming a line inspired by masked villain Darth Vader. Likenesses of the character and his supporting army have been printed across a range of the American brand’s footwear styles, in addition to a selection of t-shirts and accessories. A dark portrait of the antagonist features on Vans’ slip-on shoes, and again alongside Stormtroopers and lightsabers on the Sk8-Hi. Meanwhile, the Era and Authentic models carry the film’s fictional ice planet in black and white colour ways and comic-style illustrations. T-shirts stick to the running theme with repeated prints of Darth Vader and his Stormtroopers, interspersed with Vans branding. The pattern and illustrations of the character continue across hats and the Old Skool II backpack. The movie franchise has partnered with several fashion brands in the past, working with Comme des Garcons SHIRT and adidas on one-off designs. Vans also revealed another collaborative collection last week, teaming up with Liberty Art Fabrics for the fourth time. The Vans x Star Wars Holiday collection is available now online and at select Vans retailers. Prices start from £30 for t-shirts, £35 for hats and backpacks and £50 for footwear.
