Wood Wood Reinterprets The Classic Tawyer Shoe
Danish lifestyle brand Wood Wood has joined forces with the UK’s very own Clarks Sportswear. The pair has worked together create a completely fresh take on the British firm’s Wallabee-inspired Tawyer shoe. The new style, with inspiration stemming from Wood Wood’s own SS14 collection, was recently made available in pre-launch format online; with the official worldwide release to follow on March 15. For the project, the Copenhagen-based brand has reworked the classic Clarks silhouette, adding new unorthodox touches. These include cut-lines with hidden stitches and a two-tone navy/burgundy colour way, along with hints of natural leather. The shoe has a printed insole and embossed leather pull-tab to further reflect elements of the Dane’s latest line, entitled ‘Utopia’. Wood Wood’s two-tone upper, finished a in soft matte nubuck leather, features a lightly padded collar and snug interior fit-sock. All of the new Tawyer’s features have been set upon a contrasting white midsole. Commenting on the partnership, Wood Wood co-founder Brian SS Jensen said: “For our SS14 collection we worked with a balance between past and future – classic and modern, and the Tawyer was a perfect expansion of this. I have been wearing the iconic Clarks Originals Wallabee for years, and I found it interesting to utilise this model as foundation for a new shoe with a more sporty and contemporary look.” Set to retail at €150 (£125), the shoe will be available in Wood Wood stores and stockists this month. Online orders will come delivered with additional matching navy laces.
