Z Zegna Autumn/Winter 2014
Italian brand Ermenegildo Zegna recently launched its autumn/winter 2014 collection from the Z Zegna range. Now managed by the fourth generation of the Zegna family, the new line has been finished with a focus on sartorial expertise and high-impact expression of individuality under the direction of Paul Surridge. Sleek silhouettes have been given a youthful spin, resulting in a collection inspired by the social movement of the sixties. Titled ‘The Quintessential Modernist’, Z Zegna’s AW14 line boasts slim-cut suits, high-cuffed cropped trousers, sleeve garters, fitted shirts and mock knitwear. With a reputation for producing fine quality fabrics dating back to the early 1930s, the wool overcoats in bold colour combinations create a striking contrast against a palette of navy blue, acorn brown and smoky grey. These are further highlighted by appearances of burgundy, mustard yellow and bottle green. The latest collection, with its modish undertones, contains pinstripes, chalk stripes and geometric patterns, including blurry mohair tartans cut across natural-shouldered jackets, outerwear and well-fitted trousers. A range of accessories further emphasises the junior brand’s personality. Chunky rubber soled monk-strap shoes and versatile weekend bags made from macro-grain calfskin, brushed leather and felted wool make for a rounded offering. The global brand showcased its Z Zegna AW14 collection as part of Milan Fashion Week earlier this month. The full looks are expected to arrive later in 2014 – meanwhile a preview of the brand’s mainline spring/summer 2014 collection is available to view online now.
