Rely on Yelp reviews all you want, but to truly immerse yourself in a city, you need to hit the backstreets. Those grimy spots that tourists balk at, but where the locals feel most at home. Two brands that know these kinds of places better than anyone have collaborated to create a collection that celebrates the spots you don’t find in the guide book.
Legendary London sneaker store Footpatrol and its transatlantic brother from another mother, New York City streetwear brand ALIFE, have joined forces on an eleven-piece capsule collection honouring their home bases, either side of the pond.
The ALIFE / Footpatrol Capsule Collection comprises eight pieces of apparel and three accessories inspired by the city streets of London and New York, embodying all the grit and intensity that makes these metropolises electric.
Our must cops? The ‘Alley’ Tee, which features the names of Soho’s backstreets, and the ‘Battle Cry’ tee, which pays tribute to the history of the word Soho with a streetwear spin. Both are worth wearing with the ‘Grime Lords’ jacket; inspired by a classic mechanic’s jacket, it’s embroidered with dual brand logos and has ‘Grime Lords’ emblazoned across the collar.
For more than a decade, both ALIFE and Footpatrol have been staples in their cities’ scenes. So, it’s only fitting that these transatlantic trendsetters would put out a collab that captures the vibrations of their cities and the people who make them move.
