Tennis Star Takes On Brand Ambassador Role For AW15
Preppy American label Tommy Hilfiger has named Spanish tennis champion Rafael Nadal as its latest Global Brand Ambassador.
The eight-time French Open winner will appear in the brand’s underwear and tailored collection campaigns from autumn/winter 2015. The campaign images are to be shot early this year in the area that Nadal grew up around in Spain.
As well as modelling for the brand, the tennis star’s role will also include attending exclusive launch events in North America, Europe and Asia.
Founder Tommy Hilfiger has expressed clear support for his eponymous brand’s newest ambassador, saying he is “continuously inspired by Nadal’s dedication and passion for sport”, with the appointment bringing “one of the greatest athletes of this generation into our Tommy family”.
While many will be used to seeing Rafael in his tennis gear, the sportsman will model the ‘sharp silhouettes, modern tailoring and rich textures’ that make up the Tommy Hilfiger autumn/winter 2015 collection.
This is not the first time that Nadal has modelled for an international label. In 2011 he showcased his skills in front of the camera for Armani underwear (below).
