California footwear label Vans has enlisted yet another collaborative partner this season, teaming up with legendary skate artist Don Pendleton on a printed collection under its LXVI division. For the line, Pendleton has updated three classic Vans silhouettes with some of his signature illustrations, including the Authentic, Sk8-Hi and lesser-seen Iso 2 Mid. Kicking off the new LXVI range – an arm of the Vans brand that focuses on comfort-driven design – are the Authentic and Sk8-Hi models, both reimagined in a navy and grey colour palette, complete with abstract prints to the side panels. The Iso 2 Mid, meanwhile, has been produced in an all-black palette with the printed side panels and sole coming in tonal shades of grey. Pendleton is best known for his work in building the visual identity of skatewear retailer Alien Workshop during the 1990s, which later closed in 2014. While this is his first joint project with the brand, Vans has recently collaborated with the likes of Disney, Supreme and Carhartt WIP. The Vans LXVI x Don Pendleton summer 2015 collection is available now at Vans, with prices starting at £55.
