Wood Wood Premium Trunk

What Wood Wood produces is pants. No, actually. The Danish lifestyle brand (a firm favourite at FashionBeans, you’ll be relived to hear) has launched it first underwear range.

The typically Scandinavian collection is made up of briefs, trunks, vests and T-shirts in premium black, white and navy cotton. Interestingly, the inside of the underwear’s elastic waistband reads ‘not to be trusted’. Yet, if you want to know any part of your wardrobe has your back, it’s probably the one guarding your nether regions.

Available at Wood Wood, priced £25.

Calvin Klein Jeans 90s Sweatshirt

This week the revolving doors of fashion’s top jobs saw Raf Simons confirmed as the new chief creative officer at Calvin Klein. Given full creative control of the brand and not just the clothing, chatter has turned to what he’ll do with it.

Here’s hoping Simons returns the brand to its 1990s heyday of Marky Mark and sweatshirts like this, while also pushing ahead with new ideas such as the iconic brand’s relaunched swimwear.

Available at Asos, priced £90.

Black Eye Rags Pontius Jacket

Sharpen your safety pins, punk is alive and kicking. This year marks four decades since the Sex Pistols released their debut single, ‘Anarchy In The UK’, and in our eyes there’s never been a better time to rock the casbah.

Pay tribute to punk’s fashion legacy with a brand like Black Eye Rags, which takes wardrobe staples and trend-led pieces and updates them with an anti-establishment appeal. Its black and white striped bomber jacket features zipped arm pockets and branded tape pullers. Live fast, die young, look good.

Available at Black Eye Rags, priced £165.

Coach Modern Varsity Campus Backpack

As we run up to the Olympics, the sportification of menswear is showing no signs of slowing down. Lucky, then, that designers and brands continue to offer up backpacks that are as easy on the shoulders as they are on the eyes.

Coach’s varsity campus-style edges into the lead with bold racing stripes applied to soft calf leather. The look is one that’s ideal for off-duty days, whether running the 100 metres or just running out for coffee.

Available at Coach, priced £575.

Lululemon Stealth Pants

On the list of Canadian exports to be thankful for, sportswear brand Lululemon is up there with the two Ryans (Gosling and Reynolds), Pamela Anderson and the paint roller. Showing its appreciation, Harrods has given the brand a new space in its fifth-floor fitness department.

Sitting alongside the likes of Nike and Adidas inside the London landmark, the Lululemon rails are packed with yoga and fitness pieces – like these stealth pants, made with lightweight sweat-wicking fabric in cool space grey.

Available at Harrods, priced £98.

Our Legacy Navy Terry T-Shirt

The Swedes behind Our Legacy take Scandinavian cool to a new level, the new level being far beyond minimalism (though, they do that very well too). Alongside clean basics, they are also known to turn out interesting prints and textures.

The brand’s latest collection, known as ‘Rehearsal’, explores the wardrobe of an actor. Enter stage left: a relaxed fit T-shirt rendered in ever-present terry cloth.

Available at End Clothing, priced £109.

Admiral Performance Grey Sweat Short

Legendary sportswear brand Admiral blew the whistle on its hiatus last year, signaling a homecoming for the firm that once kitted England World Cup heroes. Returning brought an end to die-hard fans having to scour charity shops and meant Admiral could start applying its knowledge to the rising athleisure trend.

In its first performance collection for Sainsbury’s, the brand has gone beyond the beautiful game with base layers and post-workout throw-ons; all made with technical fabrics to wick away sweat and antibacterial treatments to eliminate odours.

Available at Sainsbury’s, priced £10.

Saturdays NYC Jeremiah Jacket

It’s only August so cold-weather dressing isn’t likely to be on many minds right now. But Saturdays NYC is already showing us things we can look forward to.

Take its handsome CPO Jacket, for example. Cut like a shirt but built like outerwear and complete with workwear-inspired chest pockets, its the perfect layering tool. Consider it a jacket you’ll want to spend your Saturdays – and every other day – in.

Available at Saturdays NYC, priced £201.

Pretty Green Black Label Zebra T-shirt

Rock ‘n’ roll stars may have been too inebriated to talk but there’s no denying they knew how to dress. Cue Pretty Green, which has delivered yet another set of classic British silhouettes with an on-stage edge.

This season the brand’s Black Label looked to stars of the 1960s, leading to it developing in-house floral, polka dot and animal prints to use across T-shirts, shirts and knitwear. And we know as well as the immortal Keith Richards, nothing shows off a wild side like a tiger motif.

Available at Pretty Green, priced £55.
