Leaving an old job to start afresh somewhere else can be an incredibly time-consuming chore, what with all those new-starter forms to fill out. Apparently not for Raf Simons who, in-between sorting out his P45 with Dior and getting bedded in at Calvin Klein, has found time to produce yet another killer trainer collection for Adidas. Not only is the Belgian designer’s latest drop made up of 17 freakishly cool colour-blocked styles, it also introduces two brand new models into the fold. Flanking updated versions of the classic Stan Smith, Simons has added Velcro straps and his signature perforated ‘R’ to the shape to create the new Stan Smith Comfort. Meanwhile, the new Matrix Spirit, a revival of Adidas’ 1984 Spirit basketball sneaker, has been remixed in high- and low-top canvas versions across several bold colourways. We suggest you start an ‘anything Simons designs’ savings account right now. The Adidas by Raf Simons autumn/winter 2016 collection is expected to launch at Adidas in the coming weeks, price tbc.
