Seems all that time on set has gone to Cillian Murphy’s head. At the New York premiere of his new war epic flick Dunkirk, the Irish actor took inspiration from the soldiers on screen with an exemplary new cut off it.

Sure, the short back and sides has long been a go-to for guys, but the 41-year-old opting for a disconnect is what really sets this style apart and brings it up to date.

A close shave to the underneath frames a longer fringe on-top (and lets some distinguished salt and pepper peek through), making for a no-fuss, easy-to-maintain do that’s ideal for the summer months.

The only potential pitfall here is fringe length. To swerve a sticky forehead and a buildup of product that can lead to spots, simply keep the medal of honour-worthy mane cropped above the eyebrows.

Granted, while it seems unlikely you’ll be squaring off with enemy forces this holiday season, there’s never been a better time to play the war hero.
