After six years in a boyband famed for mophead haircuts and questionable songs about ‘the best song ever’, Harry Styles can be forgiven for not always getting it right. But it seems at the French premiere of his latest flick Dunkirk, the former Directioner has atoned completely for his style sins. Opting for Pantone’s colour of the year – green – Styles makes a bold use of the colour wheel. Instead of stealing a line straight from the Pitti Uomo playbook, the 23-year-old muted the colour in favour of something more wearable – a solid olive hue. It might not seem that all that groundbreaking but when compared to usual step-and-repeat looks (and indeed, those of his co-stars), Styles stands apart from the crowd without looking fruit-bowl fresh. What’s more, the ‘Sign Of The Times’ crooner turns the volume down with a black shirt – a sharp way of anchoring a tricky shade. Factor in the lack of a tie and a couple of rings to accessorise, and consider the statement sweet spot well and truly nailed. No boots, no scarfs, no cack-handed Mick Jagger homage – just Harry Styles doing Harry Styles. And, shockingly enough, turns out that’s the best Harry Styles yet.
