NEXT was established as a womenswear brand that offered coordinated collections within a boutique style environment. The concept of selling inspirational, high quality, affordable clothing was revolutionary; thinking beyond the current ideas of other retailers in the founding year of 1982.
Two years later a menswear line was introduced followed shortly by a home interiors section (1985) and then a childrenswear department in 1987. NEXT subsequently became the lifestyle brand that exists today eradicating their boutique status. Each section reaches the requirements that it demands with a vast accessory line for women and quality electrical goods suitable for the homeware department.
NEXT Directory soon followed taking inspiration from an abundance of glossy fashion magazines. The directory became an interpretation of a seasonal catalogue that started a home shopping phenomenon, which welcomed an expansion to an online version just a year later delivering to 60 countries.
NEXT continues to develop and explore new avenues such as a quality flower service, a NX Sports label and a baby boutique. The retailer also acquired the glamorous womenswear label Lipsy, which attracts a younger clientele extremely different to what NEXT womenswear caters for. Other brands include Nike, Superdry and Joules, adding to a wider diverse market.
The fashion led brand supplied outfits for Team GB to wear at the exceptional closing and opening ceremony for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Also, NEXT provided uniforms for the 4,500 technical officials, smart suits for the reception staff and luxurious bedlinens for the athlete's village. An extremely proud achievement that will give the brand a strong reputation for supporting the UK in an iconic worldwide event.
