Items Of Clothing You Want But Can't Afford

Along with half the western world under the age of 25, I'm a bit of an aspiring writer. I write a few fashion columns for various local papers and I'm a blogging fanatic.

This week I wrote a blog entry called 'five items of clothing i'd sell an organ for', describing the clothes I would buy if I wasn't on such a student budget.

    Five Items of Clothing I

I was interested to hear what everyone else's choices would be. Any clothes you guys lust after that are unfortunately destined to remain the stuff of dreams?

It would have to be this Gloverall peacoat for me.

Off topic: Just read through most of your blog; you my friend have quite an addiction for fashion! Sure there's more high end designer stuff that I'd like to own as well, but I don't think it would ever come to that. I mean you have to strike a balance between basic necessities and luxuries such as clothes!

Oh fashion is definately an addiction for me, with all the joys and traumas that entails. =P

Thanks for reading, I write about plenty of other stuff apart from fashion so feel free to check it every now and again!

Nice article. I have an ever evolving "ultimate list". Current top 4 is:

Burberry Trench (I WILL have one this year lol)

Thom Sweeney Steel Blue Birdseye 3 Piece

    Hermes Scarf

A major timepiece, such as an Arnold & Son TB88

Wow, nice blog! It was an added bonus to find you're a fellow Bristol resident and review a few places I've been meaning to check out (The Birdcage has been passed, but not visited, far too many times to mention now). Also, some great music recommended!!

As a relative newbie to spending any amount of money on clothing I bought one of my "items of clothing you want but can't afford" this week for a forthcoming interview. The interview is something I've dreamed about for at least 20 years so I need all the confidence boost I can get!

Future dream purchases; Grenson / Church's brogues, Burberry trench coat, Barbour scarf and a Daks / Gieves and Hawkes suit would all be on the list.

Agreed on the Burberry trench, lucky enough to already own a pair of Meermin double monks and Grenson Fred brogue boots though (the latter bought half price). Other dream purchases would be an MTM/bespoke suit (fairly unlikely to happen), a fantastic tux (maybe vintage + lots of tailoring), unstructured Italian sportscoats (Boglioli, Cucinelli type of thing)...I'm sure there's plenty more I could add if I thought about it.

It's funny, I was thinking along the same lines recently. I think it's good to have a dream-list of items that you can't afford but hope to be able to at some point. I probably wouldn't go for the same leather jacket (I don't already own one so I'd go for a more classic biker jacket) and I'm not a massive fan of double-breasted blazers, but the Burberry trench would be number one on my list for sure. Oh and I'd definitely add a Rolex watch to my list

Also on my list would be a Savile Row tailored suit or two, which along with the Rolex is something I'll probably never have the pleasure of owning.
