    Single Breasted to Double Breasted?

I am now the proud owner of a blazer. First one - naturally the fit is appalling. ;-) I coukd get the sleeves taken up and all that but the actual blazer isn't a slim-fit as I hoped for. I can't return it now (don't ask me why) so I was wondering whether I could convert it into a DB blazer. Is that even possible? Would it make it a slimmer fit? Would I be wasting my time? It doesn't seem difficult and I believe it can be done but I just want to know your opinions.

Your best bet is talking to a tailor to see what they can do, but regarding it being built to your body shape as the long as the shoulders are the right fit then it maybe possible; but I would warn you I imagine it will cost close to the price of just buying a double breasted blazer. If you really want one, just sell this one on eBay and put the money towards a new single or double breasted blazer.

I'm not sure that's a good idea, as the cloth is cut differently for double and single breasted. But asking a good tailor would probably be good. Not sure it would be a very cheap alteration though. My personal beef with double breasted blazers and suit jackets, is that no matter how slim the fit, they make me look boxy. So if it's a slim look you want, double breasted might not be the way to go anyway.

I'd go to the tailor and ask what alterations he/she could make to make it slimmer. A good tailor would be able to alter the back and maybe even slim the sleeves for you.

Failing that, sell it on eBay or to a friend and get something you really want instead.

If the fit is so bad that converting into a double-breasted piece is feasible, then I'd say you're wasting your time.

eBay is your friend. Sell it, buy something with a bit more care and don't feel guilty about it. We've all been there.

Thanks guys. You're probably right, I was looking at the cuts of both mine and an ASOS DB one and I started to have doubts.
