    Authentic Gieves & Hawkes

Hello. I've just bought a Gieves and Hawkes dinner suit on eBay and I was wondering if anyone's got any tips on how to tell its authentic? The seller has guaranteed this or my money back so I'm hoping it is and I can wear it for my wedding next year.

    Cheers,

    Steve

Does it not have a tailor's label somewhere?

If you are worried someone has stuck one into an inferior suit, however, it would be rather more difficult. You'd need someone who really knew tailoring, I suspect. The cut is, as I understand it, generally a traditional military inspired one - fairly close chest and nipped waist - so if strays too far from that I'd be concerned.

It's got a authentic looking stitched label but not tried it on yet so cannot comment on the cut. I may just ring G&H to ask them! Fingers crossed I've picked up a bargain
