Shorts get really short when I sit down

I've always been a long pants person- mostly jeans, sometimes chinos. The only time I wear shorts outside is when I'm playing sports.

Recently though, I've been thinking of purchasing a few pair of shorts. I was trying on a pair in a store and while the shorts ends just above my knees (looking great and all), when I sit down, the shorts cover only half of my thigh (or even less). And well, it just looks ugly. Is this how it is with shorts, or is there a problem with the shorts/my anatomy? Should I kinda pull the shorts down before I sit down? Or should I just stay away from shorts altogether?

    Any input is much appreciated.

It's rather unavoidable with shorts I'm afraid! You could try some with a bit of stretch in which might ride up slightly less, but you're never going to eliminate it entirely.

Maybe try sitting differently? Not completely back on the seat, possibly place your legs at a downward angle so the shorts naturally roll down?

Hard to explain on here lol, but basically the idea is as you sit down, use the edge of the seat to pinch the shorts between your thigh and the chair and while they are anchored sit comfortably but as I said with a slight angle up so your shorts dont high five gravity and roll up your thigh lol

If it really bothers you then maybe just pull them down when sitting or if you're really wanting to go to extremes maybe buy some that you can turn up then fold them down when you take a seat. Never had the problem myself though as I don't think it is a big issue. Shorts can be a good look so I wouldn't avoid them over such a trivial point. As long as your crown jewels aren't on show then they should be fine.

Thanks for the replies. So it's really an unavoidable thing, and not a problem with my anatomy. PHEW.
