    Summer Wedding Outfit

I am off to a wedding next weekend. It will be very relaxed and people will be wearing very different outfits I imagine. however, I am using it as an excuse to dress up a bit.

I'm thinking of wearing this cotton/linen suit:

And am wondering what tie to wear it with? I just bought this linen tie:

But maybe that is a bit boring?

Also, I was going to wear a white dress shirt. But maybe that will be a bit formal with this type of suit?

    Any suggestions?

I think the tie would look great with it! I'd be tempted to go for a pale blue shirt, and then maybe a pocket square with some browns, blues and oranges in it?

Thanks BSB. I also bought this pocket square, which might work?

Good call on the blue shirt BTW. I just tried it with this one and it worked pretty well I think:

I got a very negative reaction from my girlfriend when I tried this outfit on. She thinks the brown tie/pocket square does not go with the shirt/suit at all. She seems to think the gingham shirt might be to blame. Does anyone think I would be better off with a plain blue shirt? And if so should I ope for poplin/twill classic/cutaway collar?

Yeah I think you're right about the shirt, in my opinion it's overloading your outfit, you've already got a lot of colours and patterns going on. I would pick one of the colours in the pocket square for your shirt, perhaps the blue or brown would work well with the secondary colour as the tie.

Actually just reread you've got the tie already so yes, go for plain blue shirt. I think the problem you're finding is you're introducing white with the gingham, and there's no other white in the outfit (the white in the pocket square isn't enough).

Thanks. I'll try it with a plain blue shirt.

In the meantime I have taken the suit into the tailors for alterations (sleeves slightly shortened, trousers shortened and slimmed down a touch) and am looking forward to picking up later in the week.

A picture appeared on Trashness of what I am almost certain is the exact same suit.

Got this back from the tailor's yesterday and am pretty happy with it. Am still unsure whether to go for a blue or a white shirt? More importantly, what shoes? Am thinking dark brown clarks desert boots (con - too dark for tie), light tan/sand suede loafers (con - too light?) or sand coloured suede brogues (again perhaps too light and unsure I really like the shape). I'm thinking tan oxford's are too formal for this outfit?

Blue or white would work, its down to personal preference.

Shoes wise, are you listing the ones you own or are planning to buy? How about replicate what that guy is wearing and go for black loafers. I don't think I've ever heard anyone say your shoes have to match your tie!
