Velvet jacket outfit for Xmas party

Our Xmas party is black tie again this year but its never too formal and I was thinking of getting a velvet jacket and black trousers to wear with a dress shirt and bow tie for a change. What's your thoughts on this outfit together? Or do I go with usual tux and skinny black tie look?

Sounds good mate. I'd try mixing it up with a black roll neck instead of the shirt maybe.

Would the jacket also work with jeans for a night on the town?

Yeah, I've worn slim jeans, white shirt and navy velvet jacket out before. You get some looks from certain folk, but it works.

I picked up that jacket today following the Christmas party thread yesterday. Your outfit sounds identical to what I planned to wear.

Question is blue or black jacket? Leaning towards blue atm.

Midnight blue over black always. Blue is a richer colour.

Where's the jacket from lads?? I've never even considered a velvet jacket before but the more I think about it the more appealing it becomes!!
I'm thinking blue skinny jeans, white shirt, and a chunky blackwatch check scarf for a mooch around Manchester Xmas markets before a night on the town.

I think the blue is a more versatile piece too.
