Possible to shrink a pair of stretch jeans?

    Hello once again guys,
I bought a pair of stretch jeans from UNIQLO
    MEN Stretch Jeans*-*UNIQLO*UK*Online*fashion*store in a 30" waist.

Never the less I really like them for the price and seem durable, but they're quite baggy around the knee area and have excess fabric which looks a bit scruffy on me. I was wondering if I could shrink them?

I asked my mum and she just stated that it was the style and it's not possible because it's a stretch jean lol. But I don't really want to believe her on that just yet and was wondering if it was possible and what method would be best?

    Cheers as always!

Stick them in a big pot on the hob, filled with water. Bring the water up to boiling point. When the water boils, turn off the heat and leave them in the water until it cools.

That will shrink just about any natural fabric.

Make sure to ask your Mam's permission first before you use her hob.

I've done this with great success with a few pairs of jeans. Hot wash & tumble dry. They defo shrink.

Depending on the composition / type of denim they may stretch back in areas of more bulk / movement, which can be a desirable look if it doesn't go too far.

If you follow this boil method won't it shrink the entire jeans beyond just the knee area?! I'd personally take them to the tailors to be tapered.

Don't know how the stretch factor will influence things, but I tried this with a pair of normal jeans I got in the sale in Jan. It worked, but they pretty quickly stretched back. So ended up taking them to the tailor.

I went with Ivan's method and it worked really well in fact, we'll see in the future if it stretches back. But I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. As for tailoring I'm not sure if it's worth getting a 20 pair of jeans tailored, I think tailors in Chester are pretty pricey.

    Thanks again guys!
