Monthly Challenge - June 2014 - Trainers X Smart Casual

This month's challenge is the combination of trainers and smart, or smart casual, clothing. A style clash, if you will.

It's a look that I personally am fond of, so I want to see what everyone else does with it & how it gets reinterpreted. Also, the question of ways to wear trainers seems to keep popping up on the forum so I thought it would be good to explore it a bit. I enjoy the juxtaposition of sportswear and casual wear so this seemed like a good choice. And I think trainers are still underrepresented on this forum so it would be good to see some more fits.

So whether it's Flyknits or Jack Purcells, a shirt or a suit, I want to see your combinations!

    Rules are simple

    Need to be wearing trainers
Need to be wearing something smart casual (not going to be ott about this - even an oxford shirt or chinos will suffice)
    One entry per member

    Think that's it.

Good luck everyone. Thanks for the votes last month x

Here are a few pics for inspiration

I thought it was going to be a wedding attire challenge. Thank fuck it's not. This is a great idea for a challenge.

Not sure what the hell I have that might work in the challenge, but I'll try & give it a stab.

Loving the look in the second pic. Not sure about the first one though - looks like a homeless guy just stole Kanye's coat.

    Hi Newbie member here

I love the challenge. One question though does it have to be trainers sneakers (running shoes) or any sneaker (slip on, converse etc) will do?

    From the OP:

IE the full spectrum of trainers, from plimsolls / slip ons to technical runners.

Also pic in the OP clearly shows a dude wearing plimsolls.

@JadeMAnalac in the UK we call "sneakers" trainers - but that doesn't necessarily mean shoes you would actually train in.

Trainers are for running. You wear them for a run or to the gym. They are NOT meant to be worn casually. SMH

Jog on then. Just for your benefit lets just pretend you can wear a suit or smart clothes to the gym, that way the challenge will still be 'valid'.
