    Recommendations for denim shirts

I'm looking into buying some denim shirts as I still somehow have none. Any recommendations on quality purchases would be helpful, looking for:

Darker wash more rugged casual shirt

Mid-blue smart denim shirt - that could be worn with jacket and tie
    Why be boring?

I have this one from the reiss sale. It's quite slim fitting. John Lewis have it also.

Its strange how a lot of people overlook the classic denim brands Levi's, Lee, Wrangler... They manage to update their fits accordingly maintaining detail and are well worth a look before the obligatory All Saints

Slight variation on the topic: any brands to look for that make shirts out of a slightly stiffer/thicker denim? Love having the option of popping the collar when an outfit calls for it, but have tried on loads recently that are just too thin/floppy, Levis being the main culprit.

I've been looking for something similar too. Problem is that the really rugged casual styles just don't work with a tie because of their collar structure and I think that normal buttons (as opposed to press studs are essential if your wanting to wear it smart casual with a tie. Was very tempted by a heavy weight denim that was almost like an over shirt on Zara's website.

So agree that your doing the right thing looking for two shirts. The denim on Zara's may be a good option for the casual shirt. I'm still to find something that looks good in a smarter context though.

If you want something smarter, why not opt for chambray?

+1. I love mine. Should wear it more really. Really soft, though, not sure if OP wants something a bit more heavy.

When does an outfit call for a shirt with a popped collar?
