It depends what you mean by proper, and I'm certainly no watch expert. But I saw this the other day and it's ridiculous for the price...

Obviously get yourself a nice leather strap and this watch will last you for, well as long as you want it to.

    Seiko 5 SNK809K2 AUTOMATIC SNK809: Seiko: Amazon.co.uk: Watches

Its movement is great and with some luck you'll only have to wind it a couple of times, ever.

But like I said it's totally about what you're after. If you're looking to spend over 500 then I would definitely do some research first because there are some amazing watches out there.

Fashion wise, those Uniform Wares watches seem to be peaking at the moment.

Cheers for the reply! I'm looking sub 500 at the moment.

Think i'm looking for an everyday sort of watch, prefer leather or chain strap to a nato one.

Here's my Seiko 5. It's just a bog standard automatic that I've had for a good few years and wear it a lot, mainly in the week. It's one of my favourite watches because of how often I wear it and how little it cost. I paid more for the strap than I did the watch.

Edit: Yeah I don't like nato straps either.

I've heard good things about Seiko before!

Been looking at the Uniform Wares 100 series and i think some of the Braun watches are really smart. Has anyone got experience with these two?

I got a Daniel Wellington Sheffield the other day. Nice watch, think they're 170.
