People whose looks I plan to imitate in the next few days:

    Charlie
    Tshirtfolder
    Nath (x2!)

Excellent work all around. There's a ton of great inspiration here that really helps me when I go to create new looks of my own.

Once again, thanks for all the great comments guys.

Marc I do love a bit of sockporn and think it can really lift an outfit, particularly if you wear your jeans/chino's rolled as I often do. I was conscious with the second outfit that the colours were all darker so I wanted the flash of burgundy in the square and socks to offset this. I have those Paul Smith socks in about 4 different colours. Whenever I visit the outlet store, I usually stock up on a few pairs!

I like nearly all of what you've got on there Ivan apart from the deep/scoop neck t-shirt, not a fan of anything other than crew-neck t-shirts to be honest. I think the douche guys that you see in clubs who look like they are out of Jersey Shore have ruined them.

I know that they are a love/hate thing. They definitely look douchey with bronzed, hairless muscles but I think they look cool on normal people. I think it's more about how you wear them though, and I do find crew necks a bit boring.

I also don't really go to those kind of clubs so maybe I've been shielded from that perception.

Do we have many 40 somethings on this site? I'd be interested to see outfits that my age group wear. Its a tricky one for me personally, as I'm told I look a lot younger than my years, and I also don't feel 42 inside! I feel I need to find a balance between being too safe and wearing clothes that I probably shouldn't be (not that I'm particularly adventurous). Be keen to hear thoughts of people in same sort of situation, and see the clothes that theyre rockin!.

    Hi all,

First time poster here. I've been following the FB website for 4/5 months now after a recommendation, and specifically this thread for a month or so, working my way through from page 1.

I've always dressed quite safely - jeans, shirts, shoes, but never really joined it all up. I therefore decided to have a clear out and re-build up my wardrobe using the Streamlined Capsule Wardrobe article as a guide for getting a solid base into place that I can then build on. I'm slowly getting there and taking my time to locate the pieces that I want rather than making impulse purchases. Alongside this I am trying to identify a tailor to make a few alterations to some pieces, as I am becoming more conscious of fit - if anyone can recommend one in Swindon that would be great.

Anyway, my reason for posting is to say that I find the looks / outfits posted on here are a real inspiration. I'm still trying to put the final pieces into place for my 'basic' wardrobe, but once that is done my intention is to start picking up some different one-off items that allow me to expand on the base that I have in place. I've already noted quite a few items on here that I would like to try and whilst I think the articles are excellent, seeing the looks / outfits on 'real' people on this thread is great.

May be brave and post a picture over the next few days!

In a bit of a rush this morning, so I noticed too late that tie-belt-shoes wasn't a perfect colour match, but I think it works.
