Light blue shirts with a blue/navy blazer is an excellent combo. You could also look at grey, pink, and white shirts to stick to a classic palette. If you want to be a bit more adventurous a tan/camel shirt or something in burgundy would look great.

Why wouldnt blue work? You could go all blue as in tonal dressing. But this is a navy blazer, with which i think every colour of shirt works, except for black, but maybe thats just me. I think a light pink shirt or white OCBD would go perfectly with this.

When you're putting two similar colours together, it looks odd if they're nearly but not entirely the same; and it looks good if they're recognisably different. For this blazer, I'd be happy wearing a pale blue shirt underneath it because with the difference in lightness and texture, they won't clash at all. I wouldn't wear a dark blue velvet shirt under it ‒ because the similarities would be too much, and because I don't wear velvet

I bought these chino's from TM Lewin at the end of last summer and did not have much of a chance to wear them. I pulled them out the wardrobe today to embrace the spring weather we have been having. paired them with a white OCBD shirt, and totally failed to find a jacket to wear with them. Navy blazer did not seem to work, anything tweedy appeared to be sending mixed messages, likewise corduroy. Any suggestions of what to wear with them?

a denim jacket would be perfect. also a simple v-neck jumper or a cardigan would do the job.

When it warms up enough to not need lots of layers, a grey sweatshirt/t or a plain white t/oxford and some simple sockless footwear would also look great.

Yep - tried it with white oxford today and worked well - was just the jacket/layering that I couldn't work out. Beige linen jacket is a good call - I have one packed away with summer stuff, so will try that. Not sure I can wear beige linen to wor though. Someone made a Great Gatsby comment today and I was only wearing a white oxford and standard beige chinos! Haha.

Completely failed to read that part of your post, sorry! Beige linen jacket is a good shout. Pale grey could work as well. Knitwear might be easier & less likely to attract Great Gatsby comments (although are these all bad? ). On the more casual side of things, I could see a dark brown leather jacket going really nicely with that shade of blue.
