Hi guys, just wondered what the varying views are on wearing a suit jacket in a more casual setting?
I just purchased a navy Calvin Klein suit the other day. Thing is, the jacket is the best fitting jacket I've ever bought off the peg and it seems a shame just to wear it in formal settings. It's 100% wool, a fairly contemporary cut and not remotely shiny, so I don't see the obstacle. What do the more satorially-inclined gents here think?
I'm gagging to wear it next summer with white trousers, a summer scarf and loafers.
Cheers

Very much depends on the cut of the jacket imo. Some suit jackets should only be worn with suits e.g. when they are very structured, or a bit longer at the back. If the suit you have is quite a contemporary cut, then it might look great with what you described. Hard to say without seeing a pic though.
In theory, I'm all up for splitting suit jackets. Like Nat says though, it depends on the fit/cut. I have a gorgeous Navy suit jacket from Peter Werth, which (due to the fit / length) just doesn't look right when mixed.
