Removing Hardcore Stains From Suede

My tan suede desert boots got ruined when i went for a night out the other day by some stains. I assume they are from alcohol but can't be sure. Just wondering if anyones got any secret home methods for removing stains from suede.

Firstly, I tried suede cleaner and a suede brush but was unsuccessful. I've resorted to scraping the stains lightly with a razor and then fluffing it up again with a suede brush. Has kind of worked but not completely.

There isn't a lot you can do, sadly you pay the price for wearing suede anywhere dirty. You won't be able to try stronger cleaner because that will ruin the colour (and probably the material) and you can't scrape too much because you'll damage the leather.

I wore my Grensons to our work party last night, I managed to keep the free of spillage but somehow some fag ash managed to land on the tip and has burnt the suede, thankfully it isn't too noticeable.

Whenever I go out I just wear my Vans Authentic, they're absolutely bloody filthy but I don't really care.

As it happens, I've ordered some clarks originals to replace them and sworn never to go clubbing again (not the first time).

Could have done without it though, I'm in dire circumstances financially at the moment. My shopping addiction's reached the point where it isn't even funny.

Proper suede cleaner can be pretty effective, the foaming stuff.

Also, just chucking them in the wash can work. It may change the colour, but it should be a consistent change.

Remember though, for your next pair, prevention is better than cure. Spray them every time you are going to wear them out when they might get damaged.

At least now you have a going out pair and a best pair.

first of all get some decent suede cleaner that will remove oil and grease and a good brush to clean it with, this will probably strip some of the suede dye so you will need a colour renovator after...
i nearly ruined an expensive pair of grey suede boat shoes in a club in miami recently, but luckily i managed to salvage them.

A colleague advised me to use washing up liquid to remove a stain from a silk tie, because it had worked for her on suede shoes. The tip for ties was excellent and some nasty curry stains came out as though they'd never existed. Give it a try on your shoes.
