I would probably say no, although I do wear one for work. I'm a waiter so it's a subtle way to inject a bit of contemporary styling into my uniform.

I would argue that Esquire hit the nail on the head with their rule: Your tie should be wider than your penis.

Oh, that's a load of crap.
Skinny guys can wear skinny ties. Don't go crazy - it shouldn't look like a tape measure or anything - but if you do it right it's a slick look.
Are they "in fashion"? Who cares? They're a recent enough trend that you won't get funny looks in them, and that's as "in fashion" as you'll ever really need to worry about I think.
