My first post and hopefully not my last!

Over the past few weeks I have been thinking about investing in a belted cropped mac. Thing is I think it may be too formal for my everyday style? I generally dress smart-casual, with raw denim jeans- brogues or boots and as of late some form of knitwear. With summer comming up I will probably be going back to chinos again and possibly still wearing my raw denim. The coat I have been looking at is a khaki belted cropped mac. What would you suggest wearing it with? I was thinking about a plain white cotton shirt for a slightly smarter look?
