Extra Long Sleeve Shirts for the taller gent.

Hi all,

Does anybody have any recommendations as to where I could affordably pick up some shirts with extra long sleeves with a decent slim cut?

A friend pointed me in the direction of Charles Tyrwhitt but the trouble is their longer sleeve sizes are not available in the slim cuts. I am 6'6'' and while I am not super skinny I am thin enough to need (and want) a good slim cut that isn't baggy and just hang off me.

I have a few bespoke shirts that I had made but I don't have the funds to be paying £140 a pop for every day work shirts!

Any pointers or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I'd try buying some Charles Tyrwhitt or TM Lewin when they've got their frequently occurring 3 for X pounds schemes, then take the shirts to a tailor and have the arms taken in. It's a pretty small job and doesn't cost a lot, and well worth it.

The old, "premium" shirt manufacturers have a pretty strange view on what's slim fit. One slim fit TM Lewin I bought online turned out to be more of a one man tent than a slim fit shirt, in my opinion.

Speaking of TM Lewin, check out their fully fitted range. I've bought two and been very pleased with the fit.

I've ordered quite a few made to measure shirts online as well, and been generally pleased with the result - although it might take a couple of orders to get it right.

I you can find a shirt with sleeves that fit then you can always get them darted by a tailor. You'll be able to remove quite a lot of the bagginess with darts. You can get them darted on both the front and back to remove even more excess material.

Thanks for the tips thus far.

I must say it is the length of the sleeve I tend to struggle on less so then the fit. Its just the body fit seems to get extremely baggy around the back once you go for the longer fits.

My only experience of TM Lewin was popping into their store on Kings Road and trying on their 'slim' cut. I was literally just laughing out loud in the fitting rooms at how baggy the whole thing was ) Ill take a look at the fully fitted range though.

Next has been my standard port of call for shirts over the last year or two - I just avoid taking my blazer off sometimes! In fact Next tends to be my 'go to' for most of my stuff these days (as size is an issue) - I really do think its under rated if you look hard enough and avert your gaze from the jumpers with the polo shirt collars stitched in for you!

Kind of a sidenote here, but what if the shirt fits in the sleeves and is just too long, i.e. it kinda looks like a dress? Will darting/hemming it solve it?
