I think once you go skinny it's hard to wear anything else. For me it just looks more stylish, it worries me when I read fashion blogs pointing to wide fitting trousers more and more now. MC Hammer's look just ain't for me.

I vary between skinny and 'standard' fit, some of my older suits and jeans are quite wide though and I tend not to wear these very often now for that exact reason, sadly the worse offender is a heavy pin strip suit from CT, which because of the stripes wouldn't take to tapering very well, shame, I've only worn it a couple of times AND purchased extra trousers with it!

It's funny when it comes to jeans I always opt for skinny jeans but when it comes to purchasing trousers I always go for slim fit. Personally I don't have any problem with trousers feeling slightly looser than my jeans but I can understand why the OP did. If you're not comfortable with the cut of a pair of trousers, don't buy them. Trust your instincts. ;-)
